Job Overview

  • Oversee the strategic management and operational oversight of the Transactions team within the Product/Transaction Operations department.
  • Lead the development and execution of transaction strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in line with NJEDA's mission.

$111,792 - $139,740

 

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Duties

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Transactions team, charged with closing a high volume of Serviced Product Transactions, including post-closing activities and modifications as well as a subset of Sr. staff focusing on drafting legal documents.
  • Lead and mentor the Transactions team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures for both the agreement drafting as well as the individual product closing process.
  • Ensure all transaction processes are compliant with regulatory standards and organizational policies and are closed accurately and efficiently.

Projects:

  • Initiate and lead projects aimed at improving transaction processes and integrating innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Set clear performance goals for the department, focusing on enhancing transaction accuracy and speed.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Monitor closing timelines and coordinate with internal and external partners to meet deadlines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure best practices are followed.

Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:

  • Collaborate with other departments to align transaction processes with overall business objectives.
  • Facilitate cross-divisional meetings to ensure cohesive operational strategies and share best practices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Internal Counsel, Insurance Providers, and the AG’s Office and serve as the primary contact for escalated issues and inquiries related to closings.

Reporting Structure:

  • Report directly to the Vice President of Product/Transaction Operations.
  • Supervise a team of Team Leads, Sr. Transaction Officers, and Transaction Officers, providing guidance and leadership to ensure departmental success.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to analyze, comprehend and apply advanced legal concepts, interpret statutes, regulations, policies and procedures; and multiple Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Ability to identify and analyze legal problems, draft legal documents and express concepts in clear and concise manner and language.
  • Ability to effectively hire and lead a team with diverse levels of expertise and focus, with a strong aptitude for mentoring and coaching less experienced staff.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to anticipate future trends and to position the team to effectively manage the workload
  • Emotionally intelligent; demonstrates effective customer relationship management and interpersonal skills.

Certifications:

  • N/A

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience of assigning and drafting complex agreements for Grant/Pilot programs for the Authority, and working with the Office of the Attorney General to manage both individual agreements as well as an overall pipeline
  • Eight-Ten years’ experience in legal, financial or banking environment preferred.
  • Five-Eight years management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Juris Doctorate Strongly Preferred and/or equivalent professional experience 

Software/Tools Proficiency:

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) System preferred.
  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Additional Information

  • Minimal physical demands and ability to work out normal business hours
  • Travel expected when necessary for business operations

 

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
