Job Summary

 

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) serves as the State’s principal agency for economic growth. NJEDA’s Wind Institute for Innovation and Training accelerates the development of a robust and diverse offshore wind workforce and champions research and innovation that unlocks market potential. Through offshore wind workforce development, education, research, and innovation efforts, the Wind Institute supports the growth of New Jersey’s offshore wind industry and the state’s position as a national leader in offshore wind development. 

 

The Intern will work directly with the leadership of the Wind Institute to support and coordinate key initiatives that further the Wind Institute’s mission. 

 

Interns can work 10-25 hours per week during the Fall/Spring semesters. Summer interns can work up to 35 hours per week for 8 weeks 

 

Graduate students are qualified to apply and paid $23.00 per hour for this internship.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Interns support the Wind Institute team’s activities, projects, and strategies at the discretion of relevant Staff, to include but not limited to: 

 

  • Support efforts to launch and administer a suite of programs focused on advancing economic development and research within the offshore wind industry in New Jersey; 
  • Perform research and synthesize findings on existing trainings and innovations in offshore wind that contribute to the development of new initiatives for New Jersey; 
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of and the opportunities and challenges of the offshore wind industry in New Jersey; 
  • Assist in the creation of tools, systems, and resources for programming offered by the Wind Institute; 
  • Contribute to periodic activity analysis for inclusion in memorandums regarding the status of the Wind Institute’s initiatives; 
  • Plan, schedule, and implement logistics for meetings and stakeholder events; 
  • Attend weekly team meetings. 
  • Works closely with Wind Institute team on industry issues, initiatives and policy discussions 
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned. 

Qualifications

 

Required Skills and Abilities

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff 
  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constrains with little or no supervision 
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare data visualization materials and other relevant documentation for the sector leaders 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff 
  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software packages

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • Must be a full-time graduate student (or planning to enter a post-undergraduate program).
