Job Summary

 

The International Innovation and Partnership (IIP) intern will work alongside the Director of International Innovation and Partnership and other members of the team to support a variety of initiatives and priority projects that advance the goals of the Authority. Specifically, the Intern – International Innovation and Partnerships will provide support in coordinating with global entities, including business, academia, government officials and organizations to build economic relations, investment opportunities, and agreements from abroad with NJEDA. The role will require memo writing, event planning, research, attending international networking events and the creation of projects and initiatives designed to promote NJEDA’s relationship locally and internationally.    

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Assists Director of IIP in the drafting and preparation of briefing memos, talking points and other written materials for use with external and international parties. 
  • Conducts research and analysis on foreign states and organizations to support the mission of the International Innovation and Partnerships Department. 
  • Liaisons with the Communications and Marketing Department for events and communications efforts on behalf of the International Innovation and Partnership Team. 
  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, NJEDA staff and external customers. 
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned by the Director of International Innovation and Partnerships. 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities 

 

  • Demonstrated interest or academic focus on subject matter relevant to international economic development 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff 
  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constrains with little or no supervision 
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve  
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff 
  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software packages. 

Required Qualifications 

 

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program

  • Valid driver’s license
