    Job Summary

     

    This position is responsible for providing guidance to  incentives recipients, consultants and CPAs to review and request and coordinate the issuance and transfer of the initial overall tax credit and first initial annual tax credit to the Division of Taxation  This position will also manage and monitor eligibility and compliance reporting for a sales tax exemption programs and service the Brownfield reimbursement portfolio.

     

    $48,540 - $60,675

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    • Coordinate’s the department’s outreach efforts toward new incentive recipients once the approval letter is issued by the Closing Department. Coordinates the department’s efforts to ensure executed approval letters and incentive agreements are returned from customers. Monitors conditions to maintain approval, project status updates, tax clearance and certification to ensure compliance to stated timelines. Notifies officers of upcoming expiries. Sends letters to applicants on expired approvals.
    • Prepares, transfer memos to the Closing Department to authorize the preparation of the an incentive agreement.
    • Works closely with recipients, consultants, and CPA’s to review and analyze tax credit and tax credit transfer documents for accuracy and consistency with incentives programs’ statutes and regulations. Approves and advances overall and initial annualtax credit documents and transfer applications to the Division of Taxation for issuance/transfer of the initial annual tax credit.
    • Reviews applications for participation in the Energy Sales Tax Exemption programs and prepares recommendation memoranda for approval.  Attends Incentives Committess and NJEDA Board meetings to present projects and respond to questions from Board members regarding applicants and general program requirements.
    • Monitors and services Brownfield Reimbursement portfolio by researching project viability and projecting budgetary impacts of successful projects, terminating older inactive projects, and faciliatating modifications to Agreements.    
    • Maintains project data to reflect annual award estimates for budget funded programs and projects awarded tax credits to assist the Compliance and Budget Reporting Officer with OMB/Treasury reporting.
    • Prepares informational activity reports for the Board, Incentive Committees, and when requested from the Managing Director and/or Sr. Leadership Team.
    • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.
    • Performs other duties or special projects, as assigned.

    • Strong decision-making ability
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to learn new software packages

     

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent professional experience in Business, Finance, Economic Development, Insurance, or related field.
    • Minimum 2-5 years’ work experience in Business, Finance, Insurance, Economic Development, or related field
    • Experience with legal documents preferred

     

    Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience

    • As necessary to events, meetings, businesses, etc.
